What is a cairn?
Cairns (stacked rocks) are commonly used as markers to guide hikers along pathways. My contemporary collages are inspired by my hiking travels across the country. They are an artistic visual representation of balance, guidance and unity. A reminder to follow your path, stay balanced in life and to work together in unity for a greater cause.
I find my inspiration in the shapes and textures both in nature and modern society. I hand paint each paper created depth through textures,a variety of ink and acrylic paint.
My hope is to arouse the viewer to contemplate the importance of a symbiotic relationship between nature and the modern world.
